In his works, Jens Rausch deals with natural cycles and cycles: materialities such as ash, bitumen, iron oxide, fire and soot are used in the painterly-artistic process. In other words, materials that themselves originate from or trigger transformation processes.
The moment of chance plays an important role here: Jens Rausch uses triggered and sometimes still ongoing process sequences, which can only be controlled and monitored to a limited extent, for his artistic process in such a way that he enters into a material-artistic dialog.
In his works, natural processes, specific material properties and the generated coincidence to which he refers in turn combine to form a complex unity that correlates with the respective pictorial motif
